Roots that hold.
A harbor to come home to.
Nature-based peer support, social prescribing, and recovery programs for the people of Hampton and Newport News, and the organizations that serve them.
Why Oak & Harbor
Built where the rivers meet the bay.
Hampton Roads is one of the largest natural harbors in the world, where the James, Elizabeth, and Nansemond rivers reach the Chesapeake Bay. Oak & Harbor was founded on its northern shore, in Hampton.
An oak is strength that grows slowly, ring by ring. A harbor is where you rest, repair, and get ready to head back out. Every program we build is meant to give people both.
Nature is the method, not the backdrop. Every Oak & Harbor program takes people outdoors, to a trail, a park, or the shoreline, because that is where the research says the mind recovers best.
